JOYMENU:

JoyMenu is a Quake modification designed to use with QuakeDC.

In a brief description, it presents you with a nice controller driven menu that makes all the features in QuakeDC available to players without using a keyboard. Included in it are a CD player, a in-game frames per second meter, many video options, support for multiple configurations, a new config system for the DC d-pad, a 3rd person view mode, new cheats, including a "The Matrix" style Slow Motion (aka bullet time mode), a deathmatch game with FrikBot X DC, single weapon deathmatch modes, map list support for both single player and deathmatch maps, and a Intermission Save System that has support for saved settings and requires only 2 VMU blocks to save. JoyConsole, an interface made to allow non-keyboard users to type and enter Quake console commands, is also included in it. It enables you to use the Dreamcast joypad to type and enter Quake console commands in a text box with up to 5 lines of text, using all the characters accepted by the Quake console.

BUGS:

  • The intermission camera is not set if the Bot Camera is active when a level ends during deathmatch game.
  • The bots frequently fall thru elevators. It is a FrikBot X DC physics bug.

Also, JoyMenu uses some QuakeDC console variables, some console variables not used by the QuakeDC engine, and was designed for non-network games. Straightly talking, it will not work as expected if you run it in other Quake version than QuakeDC.
